The complete climbing platform

Climb better.
Together.

Chalkboard is one place for your climbing: log a session in about a minute, train with a plan, set problems on your own spray wall and ask climbers at your gym for beta.

Logging and the Community are free. Chalkboard Pro (£4 a month) adds training plans, guided sessions, full stats and spray walls. Free and Pro compared

Training

Stronger fingers, on purpose.

When climbing more stops being enough, Chalkboard Pro adds structure: guided finger and power sessions, plans that progress with you, and the numbers to prove it is working.

  • Hangboard max hangs

Seven second hangs, three minute rests and a timer that runs the session. When every set is close to your limit, it suggests a smaller edge or more weight.

  • Campus board sessions

Log each attempt and get a power score, so you can see whether you are getting more explosive.

  • Training plans

Multi-week plans for strength, hypertrophy and endurance, at beginner and intermediate levels.

  • Full stats

Grade pyramid, weekly trends, personal bests with estimated one-rep max, finger strength and campus power.

How to get Chalkboard Pro

Logging, the Community, gyms and groups are free. Pro is an optional subscription you start in the Chalkboard app for iPhone or Android. Apple or Google handles the payment and shows you the price before you confirm.

Spray walls

Your wall. Your problems.

A spray wall has hundreds of problems in it and no record of any of them. Photograph the wall, mark the holds and Chalkboard remembers every climb you set and every attempt you make.

  • Mark the holds on a photo

Tap a hold, drag the ring into place and label it start, hand, foot or finish.

  • Keep every problem

Name it, grade it and find it again next session. Projects keep your private notes.

  • Log the work

Record attempts by date. A send is filed as a flash, a send or a repeat for you.

Spray walls are part of Chalkboard Pro and run in the iPhone and Android apps.

Questions

Good to know.

Anything else? Email support@chalk-board.app or visit support.

What is Chalkboard?

Chalkboard is the complete climbing platform for training, tracking, spray walls and community. You log climbing and strength sessions, follow training plans, set your own problems on spray walls, ask other climbers for beta, and join the community at your gym, in groups and at events.

Is Chalkboard free?

Yes. Logging climbs and strength sessions, history, the Community, Beta Help, gym communities, groups, events and challenges are all free. Chalkboard Pro is an optional subscription that adds training plans, hangboard and campus sessions, full stats and spray walls. Compare free and Pro.

How does Beta Help work?

Post a photo or a video of up to 60 seconds, say where you come off, and other climbers reply with advice. Mark the replies that helped, add a retry to show what changed, and mark the request as sent or resolved when you are done. You can add up to four photos or clips to a post or a retry. More about Beta Help.

What are spray walls in Chalkboard?

A spray wall is a wall covered in holds with no set routes. In the Chalkboard apps for iPhone and Android you photograph the wall, mark the holds and save problems you can grade and log. Spray walls are part of Chalkboard Pro. How spray walls work.

Is my gym on Chalkboard?

Search the gym directory to find out. Every listed gym has a page whether or not the gym has claimed it. We are building towards full UK coverage, and you can suggest a missing gym from inside the app.

I run a climbing gym. Can I manage our page?

Yes, and it is free. Open your gym's page from the directory and choose Claim this page. We check every claim with the gym before handing over the listing. Claiming a page never gives a gym access to climbers' data.

Who can see what I log?

You decide for each session. Sessions start private: every session has a Share on my profile switch, and it starts off unless you have chosen in your privacy settings to share new sessions. Posting a session to the Community is a separate step you take yourself. Your profile has its own privacy settings for your location, home gym, stats and achievements, and body measurements are never shown to anyone.

How much does Pro cost, and can I buy it on the web?

Chalkboard Pro is £4 a month in the UK. It is sold through the App Store and Google Play, so the store shows the exact price for your country before you confirm. It cannot be bought on the web, but once you subscribe it works there too. You can cancel any time in your store subscription settings.

When are the iPhone and Android apps coming?

Soon. We will share a date when the store listings are ready. Leave your email and we will tell you when they are live. In the meantime the web app has everything in the free plan.

Which grades can I log?

Boulders are logged on the V-scale, from V0 to V17.

Do you sell my data or show ads?

No. Chalkboard has no ads and we do not sell your data. Our privacy policy lists exactly what we store and why.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, open Settings and choose Delete account. This removes your account and all of your data. If you cannot sign in, email support@chalk-board.app from your account's email address. More about account deletion.
